I change shapes just to hide in this place but I'm still, I'm still an animal Nobody knows it but me when I slip, yeah I slip I'm still an animal
The soft padding of feet seemed load in his ears. However, there was little amounts of people here. Despite the temperate, Koby still wore his hood, except the sleeves were rolled up. He didn't want others to see him really. But then why was he out here? His face stared down at the wooded flooring. The young fox was cought up in thought. Everything seemed to change over a matter of months. Perhaps, this was where he was going to get some kind of peace. A place to think without distractions. He felt numb again. And this time, it wasn't even from the drugs. Thou, they were still in his pocket. Probably to use later, when the numbing feeling wore off. A sigh came from his lips as Koby made his way towards the water side. He dug his hands into his hoodie's pockets. Heterochromatic eyes stared down at the moving mirror below him. He could see everything. All his scars and burn marks. And his eyes. Koby clenched his eyes shut and looked away. "I won't leave you" "You're not alone" "I'm here" "I can't lose you too" Her words echoed in his head. Every time he looked at his eyes, he thought back to Mikomi. She seemed to like his eyes even when he hated them.
A loud sigh escaped his lips as Koby sat down. He pulled out the book from his pocket and flipped thru a few pages. This was the book with everything written in it. Well, not really. It was the one he had shown Mikomi awhile ago. The one will all the nightmares and decoded words. It brought back memories of that night. The fox shook his head before opening to a clean page. He was still making violins and other related instruments as his, formally Baulic's, shop still ran strong. Thankfully. It gave him enough money to not only pay for the shop itself, but also for the drugs. In all honesty, he doesn't know what happened to his old home, not that he really cares. All the personal items were gone. Those thugs with grudges burnt it down on him, making him relive the fear of fire. They left him with these ever lasting scars. Taking a pen from his other pocket, Koby started drawing. He wasn't sure what he was drawing. But it sure wasn't an instrument.
The sweatshirt was pulled off as the heat became more unbearable. Thou, his scarf still stayed in its place. The young fox continued to doodle, glancing up every now and then. It was an ugly doodle really. Just a bunch of squiggles and lines. Nothing was there. Another sigh came from his mouth before he leaned back on his jacket. His thoughts continued to wonder. Did anyone really miss him? Mikomi had that conniving liar named Asher. What about Aya and Shai? Sure, those two weren't exactly his good friends, but he still liked them. And Amaya? Gawd, how was she after everything? Was she still even alive. Ouch, that was rude. The fox shook his head. But he knew how she felt. A shudder ran up his spine and the words came back. "I'll be gentle" "Relax, it'll get better" Koby curled in on himself. Gawd, he felt so stupid for letting that stupid ferret convince him to do that. Not only did he get hurt, but also went against Baulic's back. His grandfather despised those kind of people. A hollow laugh left his lips. That figures.
Slowly, Koby sat back up. He held back tears. Everything was so messed up. The questions he constantly asked himself came back. Why him? What had he done to disserve this? The fox knew he wasn't the best out there. He tended to be rude and mean. But there were reasons. And all his plans. All that had happened back at the coven. The fox had a reason. He wanted what was best. But that wasn't enough was it? The fox whipped his eyes before staring back towards the water. "I'm so messed up" He let out a whimper.

*Now here we Stand, with their Blood on Our Hands~
The large black canine making her way through the shadows of the island was on a mission not new to her. She was hunting- but not for food. Her daughter had yet to return home, and Shai was not very pleased. There was still a fair amount of daylight out, but it wouldn't be long before dusk came. She had scoured the casino, the shops, the alleys- but nothing. Only a vague scent on a bench and near the ice cream parlor- but other than that, There was no trace of her daughter. Shai huffed, muscling past the tourists that were mingling just in her way- not bothering with her human guise. Some let out surprised yelps, but none acted against her. They could tell she was wanting out of the crowd- and her course was leading her to the pier just off the beach. The crowd thinned out almost instantly as she came within sight of the large docks, and flashes of her night with the devil-dog Sag came to her mind. She closed her eyes, shaking her head roughly and sighing. She'd never drink that much with a man ever again.
She opened her eyes, taking in the sun as it glittered off the water- but noticed a figure as it blacked out a human shape amongst the sparkling sea. She narrowed her eyes, noticing the hoodie they wore, along with the scarf that flowed out behind the figure. Shai knew of only one person that wore a scarf no matter what the weather, and so picked her pace to a trot- her paw steps quieted by the smooth sands. She watched as Koby sat down, clearly picking up his scent now as she drew closer, but became concerned as he wiped at his face. She perked her ears forward, slowing to a walk as she came up within a pounce of him. She heard him let out a small laugh, followed by his sentence, and she let out a disapproving bark. "You don't seem so messed up to me, Koby-kins." she spoke cooly, sitting herself down directly behind him and glancing down at him. Something seemed.... off about him. Then again, it was Koby. He was always a little awkward, wasn't her? Maybe- but not like this. She tried to peer around at his face, wanting to read his expression. "So what're you doing out here in the middle of nowhere?" she questioned, letting her muzzle rest on his shoulder.

When you feel my heat Look into my eyes It’s where my demons hide It’s where my demons hide Don’t get too close It’s dark inside It’s where my demons hide It’s where my demons hide The fox was too far in his thoughts he never heard Shai. Koby jumped at her words and he glanced back at her. A small chuckle came from him as he remembered the nickname. Reality hit for a second, and he turned back away quickly. His scars. Crap. He had no way to hide them. His body turned rigid, staring at the water. The weight of Shai's head on his shoulder was rather prominent. Not that she was heavy or anything, but his body had grown weaker as days passed. It couldn't really be helped thou. That was his own fault.
"Thinking," Koby let out a mumbled. His gaze turned to her than back to the water. He could feel himself turning nostalgic. Their first meeting. That was a good laugh for him. The noble garden and everything. It seemed nice back then. Well, better than it had been really. Then it all went down hill. "So how 'bout you? What brings the big bad wolf out here? No less in your majestic animal form~" He over exaggerated on his words, cracking a slight smile. Turning back to face Shai, Koby took in her form. She had gotten skinnier herself. But she still managed to look as stunning as ever. He wouldn't admit to it, but Shai, Aya, and Amaya were his favorite wolves. Well, the only wolves he's met(There was Asher but he wasn't exactly on Koby's friends list). However, that didn't matter. He enjoyed their company and they always managed to look amazing.
His thoughts were travelling again. Wait! Wasn't Shai pregnant the last time they met. At the rose party thing. What about the pup! Oh wow, this was rather new news to him. The fox wanted to spring out with questions but held himself back. Was is a girl or a boy? What did Shai name it? He's always wanted to see the birthing of a wolf live before. The thoughts were shaken before he turned his attention back to Shai and not on the fact that she may have a child. Koby closed his book and let out a sigh. The fox stared down at it. He kind of wanted to throw the damn thing away. If it wasn't for his instrument drawings, he would have. But it was slightly important to him. Maybe. Koby wasn't sure. Hell, he wasn't sure of anything really. His mind was always in a mess. Absentmindedly, his fingers ran over his pockets holding the drugs. Once his natural numbness went away, he'd use it again. Maybe even overdose. That sounded pleasant. A hollow laugh left him. Great, just what he needed. To be suicidal.

*Yes, You can Hold my Hand if you Want to- Cause I Wanna Hold yours, Too~
The she-wolf let out a small laugh at kobys own chuckle, but her eyes narrowed slightly at only the slight glance of his skin. It was... different. He quickly turned his head around, hiding it from her view. Suspicion spurred her on, her head resting on his shoulder. She could feel the bone beneath the clothes. He was thin and fragile back when they'd first met, but not this. This was unhealthy. It worried Shai- and the scent of meds she'd have recognized anywhere. The scent always had lingered on Kiki, due to her brothers usage. She furrowed her brows, almost missing kobys question. His over-exaggerated compliment, however, brought a smile to her face- a small laugh escaping her maw. "You're too kind, Koby. But I was searching for my trouble-making spawn. She comes out here to escape me every now and again. I was just looking for some place to crash so I could continue my search tomorrow- but it seems I found company instead." she answered, laying herself out in the sand next to the fox. As he appraised her form, she tilted her head- taking in his scorched skin. Immediately, anger flared up. Her hackles raised and a growl rumbled in her chest. Who had done this?
She was on her fours again, lowering her head to be eye level with koby, searching his gaze for an answer. Had someone thrown him in gasoline and torched him? Had someone abused him? Was it an accident? She let the questions run wild in her mind- her form rigid with anger. She would find out who had done this. She would find out, and she would make them suffer a fate many hundreds of times worse. She stopped her thought process in its tracks- shaking her head vigorously. She looked to the fox, now with concern etched into her features. She shifted to her human form, falling to her knees and taking his face gently into her hands, as if it would shatter like delicate china-ware. "Koby... koby, sweet-heart, what happened? Why didn't you come find me or tell someone?" she spoke, only an octave louder than a whisper as she let her hands fall to bring the fox into an embrace, soft but strong.
Guilt washed over her. She hadn't been there for him. She hadn't been there to help. Was there any way to right this? She highly doubted it. The physical, and possibly the mental, scars were severe. She couldn't do anything to right it, but she could surely do something to make up for it? Lost in her thoughts, the female had not realized when her human form gave way to her canine, her large frame practically swallowing him as she sat, head hunched over his shoulder and pulling him into her broad chest.

Oh? So there was a pup involved. Koby smiled once more. It was nice to know that Shai had someone to look after. He bet the little thing would turn out just as amazing as her mother. The fox listened as the other spoke. A place to crash? Out here? He inwardly chuckled. Stomping around in ones animal form might not have been the best idea. Might actually cause more harm then done. His head tilted involuntary. Koby wasn't exactly the best company to have. And in his state now, it was probably worse. Heterochromatic eyes followed the wolf's movement as Shai laid down next to him.
He wasn't given a second to think before Shai was back on her feet. She was staring intently at him. It looked like anger, which made him flinch slightly. At first, he thought she had scented the drugs, and was going to yell at him. But once her gaze soften, confusion struck. Shai was confusing him badly, and Koby wasn't exactly the one who liked being in such state.
Gentle hands were on his face. Heterochromatic eyes stared into emerald orbs. Her words. Koby froze instantly. He was at a loss for words. This was so different. His expectations, all the thoughts he put in his head, everything, was so different. Shai looked genuinely concerned for him. It was a nice change really. Being taken into her hold, it felt nice. To be hugged and loved like this. Everything seemed to come crashing down on him again. He tried desperately to hold everything together, but to no avail. One tear fell. Then another, before he was silently crying on Shai. He would have laughed at the fact that she was twice his size, however he didn't feel up to such a thing.
Koby was uncomfortable really. He never grew accustomed to this feeling. To be hugged. The only ones who seemed to do such were Uta and Mikomi. And there was that one time with Amaya, but that was different. Sure, he had his family to love him back when he was a kit. However, Koby had grown cold with the years that only worsened. To have this feeling again, it felt new. Hesitantly, his hand reached up and gripped at Shai's shirt weakly. His hands never really did regain all their feeling. Koby's mind was racing. The poor fox wasn't sure what to do. All that imaginative weight on his shoulders seemed to weigh down further. He just wanted to scream and cry, but held himself back.
A shaky sigh came from Koby. He tried to recollect himself. To put that facade back on. Everything was fine. Everything would be fine. Or so he kept telling himself. Eventually the tears slowed and stopped. They were uncomfortable against his skin. Gently, Koby pulled away to wipe his eyes. He avoided looking at Shai, staring down at his book. He wasn't sure where to start. What to say. Oh, just some thugs bent on revenge decided to burn his house down while he himself was in it. Yeah, lovely conversation. And there was the time before that. They were probably out to kill him. Not that it mattered anymore. That seemed like it would do a lot of people good. Another hollow laugh came from him. This inner turmoil was killing him.
Hesitantly, he looked up. His eyes seemed to scream everything. Koby looked like he was a child again. Hell, he could even still be considered a child. He was only 16. In October he'd be 17. If he even made it till then. His thoughts traveled back to what Shai said. "Some guys had it in for me. They've been at it for years. Decided it would be fun to be pyromaniacs I guess," A heavy sigh left him as he turned back to his book. "I... In all honesty, felt like a burden." The words came from him were the truth. That, and he really didn't know where to find the other. He had been jumping allies for the time being. No real place to go. He had Mikomi, but again, that guilty feeling of burdening came back. His hands clasped together. There wasn't much he could do. Koby was at a loss for words really. "I couldn't really tell anyone. The guys are kinda well known. I don't think anyone would believe me. A street rat druggie like me," Another hollow laugh. He hadn't realized he slipped about the drugs. The fox was so cought up in his mind, all the trauma, that he was just spurting out things. "I kinda wondered what would happen if they were successful," His eyes glanced back up at Shai. "Would anyone really have cared? I'm just this menace. I'm probably this scary story those from my old coven tell to scare the apprentices. They'd all be living it up once they found out their tyrant was dead," Koby wasn't usually one to tell his past. He was always secretive. But there was no point now. "Why should it matter?"

Shai could feel her shirt as it dampened with the foxes tears. She did not mind. She might have been the biggest, baddest, toughest, and meanest creature out there- but when it came to being there, she was always dependable. Hands gripping at her shirt only vaguely registered in her mind- and as the fabric melted into fur, she lifted her head- letting her muzzle dip down to tap at the bottom of koby's chin affectionately. His gaze stayed on his book for a long while, but this did not bother the she-wolf. She had learned patience over the years. Once he lifted his eyes to meet her gaze, she could see the turmoil swimming in his eyes. It earned a quiet whimper from shai. It about broke her heart, honestly.
He started his story, and immediately shai let her hackles flare- a growl emitting so low as to easily be confused for a constant buzz. She could not argue the point of him not being a burden, as shai knew all too well that same feeling. There was no argument that could compete with that solemn feeling. As he continued on though, telling her of how nobody would possibly believe him due to the assailants reputation, shai let her growl snap off to a quick snarl. "If you'd be so inclined as to give me names, I could surely do something to eliminate your pest problem~" she let the words drip with venom, the urge to hunt someone like prey and to torment them slowly pumped through her blood and tickled at her muscles- already able to feel them in use as she'd perform despicable acts that would leave them in mental and physical agony. During her 'high', she did not realize the slip-up of the fox- admitting he had become a druggie. She would not have blamed him, though. Having ones skin burned taught against their frame is probably not the most comfortable sensation in the world.
As he continued, though, the feeling soon drained out of her system and the heaviness of reality had set in. What if they had succeeded? Shai gave a small frown and a disapproving growl. She stood on her fours, and took in a deep breath- the salt in the air stinging at her nostrils before she let the air seethe out between her partially opened jaws. "Of course someone would have cared. I know I would have. You might be a crazy, depressed, "street druggie", and rude fox, but you're my fox as far as I'm concerned. And I will make those low-life fucks regret the moment they ever decided to mess with you. 'The Koby Monster' has nothing on 'The Shai Beast'." she finished, lashing her tail and offering a sly grin to her companion. As he said his last sentence, though, she frowned again. "It matters because there are people who care about you and your well-being. In fact, if you need a roof over your head, I have one free room up for grabs with your name on it." she said, sitting herself down once more and glancing around. Already, the sun had sunken below the horizon- leaving only a flicker of light to battle the oncoming darkness that loomed overhead.
