Azuma sat in an alley, sighing. She had found herself sleeping in alleys more often than not, because she hadn't found a place to sleep yet. She pushed herself off the ground, and took off her jacket, tying it around her waist. It was a fairly nice day, not too hot nor cold, and not a cloud in the sky. Dusting off her jeans, she turned and walked into the street. She began to walk down the sidewalk, not really caring which direction she was heading, she was just.. walking.
Closing her eyes, Azuma continued walking. Closing your eyes while walking.. that was rather foolish, wasn't it? She hardly knew this street well, so anything could happen. She opened her eyes slightly when she heard the thump of footsteps running towards her. A man, it would seem, was running from a few thugs. Poor unfortunate human, she thought. The man appeared to have a large black suitcase in his hands, and she couldn't help but wonder what was inside of it. The man, noticing her, his eyes seem to brighten, as he was undoubtedly thinking she would help. He sped up is run, and ran past her, but then turned and hid behind her. "Please, Miss! Could you help me?? I knew I shouldn't of come down this street, but I did anyway.. if you take care of these thugs, I'll pay you handsomely..." he mumbled out, the fear in his voice showing through. Azuma smirked at the word, pay. Money was always helpful, and she seemed to never have enough to survive for long. She didn't know this man, but, the idea seemed appealing to her. "Sure, why not?" she smirked, and charged in the direction of the thug.
Stopping before him, the thug didn't hesitate to throw a punch. She attempted to block it, but she hadn't expected how much force was in that punch. She flew back, and landed on her back. This was a bad position, she thought, and kicked her legs upward, and towards her torso, the momentum of it causing her to roll backwards onto her feet. She did this, just in time, as the other thug was about to dropkick her. Forcing her strength into her legs, she charged forward, ramming her head hard into the mans abdomen. He got knocked off his balance, falling onto the ground. That had shot the breath out of him, and that would keep him down for awhile. Looking around for the first thug, she saw that he had ran into an alley, and came out with an old rusted pipe. Crap! He had a blunt object, she would surely be down if he managed to strike her with that. Turning around towards the man who offered her money, she ran towards him, and grabbed his arm, pulling him along faster than he could run. Making a sharp turn to the right, she ran through the allies, making turns and hoping to avoid a dead end, as well as to outrun the thug. She grimaced as her side began to throb, from the punch. Trying to push off the pain, she squeezed her eyes shut for just a moment. Finally, they made it out of the alley, and lost the thug. "There. It should be safe for you to go by yourself." she turned to the man. "Oh..! Thank you, Miss!" The man reached into his pocket, and pullet out a wallet. He then pulled out about $50 from the wallet and handed it to her, then ran off. Azuma held the money in her hand. "Only fifty dollars..?" she mumbled, sighing. She had hoped for more than this, but there was nothing she was going to do about it. Sticking the money in her pocket, she looked around. Noticing a nearby cafe, she walked in and sat down in a chair, holding her throbbing side.
