I'm gonna avoid the cliche I'm gonna suspend my senses I'm gonna delay my pleasure I'm gonna close my body now
The air was crisp. The wind decided it needed a break, and for that Mikomi was thankful. It was still very much winter as snow still littered the ground. She guessed it wouldn’t melt for a couple more weeks, but even then she could be wrong. Mikomi sighed, the hot air turning visible before her eyes. She tightened the scarf around her neck more snug around her thin neck. Mikomi stepped out of her apartment complex. She wore a black pea-coat and dark jeans tucked into black boots. Taking a glance up at the sky she made her way to the stores. Her steps were light and only the soft ‘thud’ of her boots gave way to her presence. It was peaceful today, much like any other day, but it never reflected Mikomi’s mood.
In truth, Mikomi didn’t know what she was feeling. She didn’t know if she could even call it a feeling. That was the point. There wasn’t anything there. She felt… hollow. She was beginning to realize things, possibly things she should’ve realized awhile ago. The New Year had been celebrated much like she celebrated it every year. Partying big. But this year it didn’t give her the excitement it had every year before it. She sat there mostly, hardly making conversation. No drugs, just lots of drinking. Normally, she was a fun drunk. This time, she was quiet. She passed out in someone’s room and left there soundly before silently slipping out the next day.
Mikomi didn’t even know where her feet were taking her. She was just tired of sitting in the house before working. She needed some fresh air, severely. Christmas was uneventful. She spent money buying gifts for Koby since she didn’t have anyone else to give gifts to. As of late, she had seen less and less of the fox. Mikomi never mentioned it to the fox when she did see him. She didn’t want to bother him. In truth, his absence was beginning to affect her. His presence (which she had grown so accustomed to) was no longer there. Perhaps the term to describe what she was feeling was lonely. Yes, that was it.
Asher name came home for the holiday. He sent his apologizes but his studies would continue over break. His parents had visited him, but Mikomi didn’t have the time or money to travel. Mikomi knew that she was overly gloomy about it, but she hadn’t seen him in months. She didn’t know how much more she could take. Mikomi spotted a park bench before sitting in it. Hastily pulling out her wallet she flipped it open to stare at the picture that greeted her. There they were, Asher and herself, smiling for the camera at last year’s rose ball. She traced Asher’s face tenderly smiling all the while. With one harder look she placed the wallet back into her purse before pushing off the bench to continue her walk.
Mikomi found herself in the market place looking about at what was for sale. Mikomi found herself in the music shop once more. Mikomi’s hands ran over the covers of various sheet music, many that she already owned. “Hello, Mikomi! Haven’t seen you in a while? How have you been?” asked the shop owner. The owner, Mrs. Baker, was an old sweet woman who always supplied Mikomi with her music. “I’ve been well, thank you and you’re self?” Mikomi answered softly with a smile making her way to the counter. “I’ve been splendid, sweetie. I just got a new piece of music in; I’d like you to play in on the piano. It’s been so long since I’ve heard you play.” She said handing the music to Mikomi.
Mikomi glanced over the music, it was simple, mostly chords. She sat at the black grand piano that sat in the corner of the shop. With a deep breath, her fingers pressed down on the white and black keys. First the A then Cm7 then to the four chord. The chorus started out with D to A then E before returning to D. It was nice, very sweet and enchanting. Mikomi closed her eyes as she pressed the last note. The notes echoed into the air and the store was silent before she opened her eyes and reality began its usual routine again. With a smile Mikomi opted to buy the music, even though she didn’t need it. She left the store in a slightly better mood than when she entered. Placing the music into her purse Mikomi took a seat at a small café.

It was way too cold.
After living a whole year and some odd months in such a temperate area, Asher found the crisp, cold air to be very uncomfortable. It seemed as if his body had forgotten how to adjust to any weather below seventy degrees farenheight. Ash hoped that he would get used to this weather sooner than later...if not he would have to go into hibernation until spring started up again. It was a good thing he had stopped by to visit his brother earlier that day. If he hadn’t Ash probably would have succumbed to the weather hours ago. He tightened the jacket around his chest thankfully. It was about time that twin of his made himself useful for something.
Although he was finally warm, Asher couldn’t help but to find himself dreading the upcoming situation. These past few months he had been focusing on school with every ounce of his being...which meant little, if anything, was being given to Mikomi. He felt horrible, and he could tell just by the tone she took in her letters that she was hurting from it. Asher had spent hours thinking of how he would make it up to her, but alas everything he thought of didn’t seem like enough to make up for his absence. At this point he could only hope for the best.
Being a wolf, his senses where much more sensitive than your average person’s, however the only vibrations of sound that he could pick up was the soft ‘thud thud crunch crunch’ sound his boots made when they made contact with the snow. After almost an hour of walking the sound became almost pleasing to his years. Ash found himself arranging beats around the constant acoustic until another melody reached his ears. The sound of these footfalls were much lighter than his; they sounded graceful and tender like the steps of a deer. Blue eyes scanned through the white to identify the source of such a melodic gait.
Of course. Who else could make such a beautiful noise with only her feet?
A huge grin played wildly on Asher’s lips. His muscles tensed. He wanted nothing more than to go and run after her, pick her up and hold her tightly in his arms, but the guilt that tugged in the back of his mind told him not to do so. Asher idd however continue to walk behind her in such a way that he would not be seen or heard. Seeing her from behind like this was almost unreal. He felt like she would turn around at any moment and have the face of another woman or something like that. Asher followed her everywhere. From the market place, to the music store and then finally to the cafe, missing her more and more each step of the way.
Even after following her all the way there, he was still not able to approach her. So he sat a few tables behind the brunette, wondering what his next move should be. ”Mikomi...” he whispered quietly.

Walking down this cold dark lonely road I feel so much pain and sad and hurt down in my soul Wondering will i ever see your face again And will the weight on my heart ever be lifted
A small sigh left her lips once more and she twirled the silver spoon in her mint tea. Her gaze fixed on the small china in front of her. She looked dully into her dark reflection in the tea, eyes focusing on the ripples. Mikomi bit her lip tenderly trying to hold in another sigh. Wasn’t she supposed to feel good being out in the open like this? It wasn’t until she looked about that she noticed she had chose a café in a little back ally, as though trying to get away from the world. She laughed softly at herself, it would seem she was right. Mikomi picked up a small menu, she needed something sweet. Something to give her an emotional boost.
Chocolate cookie with ice cream, yes that’s what she needed. As the order came out, her mouth was watering. When the dish hit the table she had a spoon in hand. It didn’t matter if the air was a bit nippy, ice cream and cookies always made her feel better. A satisfied nod was given as the last scoop entered her mouth. She didn’t care if she looked like a fat kid, she wanted it. Mikomi took a look down at her body. A frown set it, she was actually more skinny then she wanted to be. That’d need to be fixed soon. She’d spent so much time working that she’d forgotten to eat on several occasions. She was just so tired.
Mikomi sat back in her chair patting her stomach softly as though there was a bulge there to begin with. What to do now? She looked up at the sky- still too early to head in. It was still very much day time. An idea came to her, that music she was just given. It had just been simple piano music and Ian, her boss, liked words. She pulled the music out and set it on the table. How many measures of intro? She pulled out a pencil, never pen. What should the piece be about? She already knew that answer. Asher. She paused for a moment, the sad thought. Maybe one day she’d be able to play this for him soon… maybe.
She still hadn’t told him the truth of her job, or anything for that matter. Actually, had she even told him she had a job? It had been so long and the webs of lies were starting to form knots and she was getting tangled. Perhaps she’d write about how she first met him? Yes, that sounded quite nice, when they met at that fountain asking for her freedom. How it was enchanting to meet him. The words rolled of her tongue as she hummed the melody to herself before scribbling the words. With all this distance there were questions to kept asking herself. What if… what if he had fallen in love with someone at school, someone more suited for his social stature? ‘Please don’t be in love with someone else.’
Mikomi set the pencil down and cradled her face in her hands as she let out a sigh she could not contain. Maybe it was time she head in? There wasn’t much left to do. It was then that she heard something ever so softly in the silent café. Her name? It wasn’t her name that bothered her, no, by far. It was the voice, how she knew it. She turned ever so slowly around. Ruby locked with blue. “Asher…” she breathed, frozen in her seat. She didn’t know what to do. She blinked slowly, convinced her mind was playing tricks on her. This couldn’t be happening, could it? She stood up slowly, eyes locked on him all the while.
It was then that she bolted to him. She had somehow become as agile as an animal and dodged tables and made her way to him. She leaped into him arms. Her arms wrapped around him and she did the only thing she could think of- she kissed him. It was quick before she had her face buried into his neck. Small tears formed at her eyes but dared not to fall. She wasn’t weak, she didn’t need anyone. But right now, she couldn’t deny how much she missed him. “Asher.” She kept saying his name as though to reassure herself that he was actually there. “I missed you.” She told him, “I missed you so much.” Her arms tightened around him, afraid to let go as though he’d disappear.

Fingerless gloves rubbed against each other, trying to regain the warmth lost. Koby stared at his hands. Everything hurt. The damn drugs were supposed to make it all go away! Freaking drug dealers were liars. Huddling in an alley, the fox tried to escape the cold. Sure, it wasn’t that cold, but for him he was freezing. Probably sick no doubt. He missed being at Mikomi’s. The place had become a home for him. And Miko was so sweet. Sure there was her job… But everything was fine otherwise. Sadly, he couldn’t go back there. No… Not like this. Ass-holic gang members. Setting him up. The sour apples had to keep a grudge for setting their boss to jail; so much so, that they had to set him on fire! Koby huddled in on himself more, holding back a whimper.
Maybe he should just go back home. To his real home. Not Mikomi’s. He had been avoiding the place completely. To many memories, too much pain. But it was better than the cold. No doubt he’d get frost bite. Blowing on his hands, the fox’s thoughts wondered. First, he should get something warm to drink. Or eat. At the thought, his stomach growled. You’d think that as a fox, he wouldn’t be in this situation. However, he had grown so accustomed to being human that… Well it was like trying to ride a bike for the first time.
Pale hands dug thru his sweatshirt pocket. He had just enough for some kind of drink. Maybe even a junk food. Dragging his hood over his head more, Koby left the alley. He wasn’t sure where he was going. His mind was set on food and that’s where his body was taking him. Hopefully. It seemed quiet, save for the slosh of snow under his feet. Turning corners and ducking into alleys, Koby continued on his journey. It felt like hours had passed before he finally made it someplace. Heterocromatic eyes peered thru the window. Was that… Mikomi?
Every bone in his body froze. The fox stared in shock. She was hugging someone. No wait… It looked like the guy from Mikomi’s picture. Had she even mentioned his name? Wait, why did it matter to him? All the fox wanted was food damn it! Gently opening the door, Koby stepped inside. The warmth hit him full on. It felt so good. He needs to learn to wear something more suitable for winter. For some reason, his winter coat never grew out. Maybe that was from staying inside Mikomi’s for too long.
The fox stepped past the two, keeping his head low. Don’t recognize me, don’t recognize me. “BWAH!” A sudden shout came from the fox as he tripped. His shoe laces were untied and hooked under his foot. Chairs crashed around him as he tried to stop himself from falling. However, he failed miserably. Chuckling at his stupidity, he tied them again, a bright blush on his face. Koby stood up like nothing happened, brushing off non-existing dirt, before continuing to the counter. The old lady was there. “W-what can I get with this?” Gawd did he feel stupid for asking. He placed down the money and kept his head low. His hair had been cut due to the burns.(And not to mention the obvious blush.) But she could see his eyes. And if she didn’t like him, then maybe she would raise the price. Not to mention his burn marks. “Some hot chocolate deary,” She said smiling. “Can I have that please?” Koby asked politely. Within minutes, the hot beverage was in his hand, paid for. Slowly, Koby sat at a table and drank.
His whole body seemed to warm up. So yummy! Smiling lightly, the fox continued to drink. Heterochromatic eyes peeked up from under the hood and hair. Mikomi looked happy. That right… She should belong with him. A human. Unlike a freak like himself. Holding back a sigh, Koby took another swig of the drink. As much as he wanted to savor the delicious liquid, he couldn’t. The fox had to leave before he was recognized. Ah crap! Two-toned eyes stared down in shock. He hadn’t taken off his scarf. No doubt if Mikomi had seen him, she would recognize his signature item. Shaky hands pulled at the scarf, undoing the tie and sliding it off. Damn it.

The blonde wondered if Mikomi was still even in love with him? If she wasn’t...he probably couldn’t blame her. After all, Asher had not been there for her as much as he could and should have. In fact, he wouldn’t be surprised at all if Mikomi had come to resent him.Asher sighed and buried his face in his hands. The boy had no right to cry about this situation, but the outcome was so grim he couldn’t help but feel so much despair. ‘Why did I even bother coming back here, he thought to himself quietly. ‘I’m only going to hurt her again..’ And that was something Asher couldn’t bear to do for a second time. He breathed a deep breath, and let his large hands fall down to his lap. There was no use staying here and moping around. Asher would simply have to apologize for his mistakes and let Mikomi move on. That would be the best solution, wouldn’t it? His crystal blue eyes traveled up once more to steal one more glance at that beautiful woman. What he saw made his heart skip.
Mikomi’s beautiful ruby eyes locked onto his, and sent a shockwave of longing and heat throughout his body. Like a gentle wind brushing against his skin, he heard her say his name. Asher shivered. ”Mikomi.” Ash whispered back to her. The flaxen haired male watched as she rose from her seat, and quickly made her way throughout each and every table to him. Her movements were smooth and graceful yet quick and anxious at the same time. At that moment all thoughts of abandoning her faded away, and was replaced with the great desire to simply hold her in his arms.
Asher, too rose from his seat, and welcomed Miko into is outstretched arms. As soon as she was within reach he locked her within his embrace and held her tightly against him. It was clear that people were beginning to stare, and whisper behind their hands but he couldn’t care less. Ash had been waiting for this moment for what seemed like an eternity. ”Im here now Miko.” he said holding her face in his hands. ”I’m not leaving anymore”
From the corner of his blue eyes, Asher noticed a small white haired boy fall in a rather loud commotion. Of course he had the appearance of a boy on two legs, but Asher's nose and other senses smelled a wolf in sheep's clothing...or rather a fox in sheep's clothing. Instinctively the blonde released a small growl; warning the fox to keep his distance. Otherwise he gave no indication of having noticed the boy.

I know that I am here and you are there But we still have our love We move just like the moon and sun The sun comes up, The moon rolls down, A world apart but they don't make a sound; They know their love spins us round.
Mikomi was in too wound up for words. The boy she’d been thinking about 24/7 seemingly appeared when she needed him the most. It was true she’d slowly started to fade into a routine that resembled that of the living dead. Same thing everyday seven days a week. Several questions flooded her mind, too many to pick. When had he returned? She couldn’t remember him saying he was returning. Actually, when was the last time he had written to her? She knew school was keeping him preoccupied, but in the back of her mind she felt as though she was being put second. No, she shouldn’t be thinking like that, but she couldn’t help herself.
It almost seemed unreal, the situation she was in. Asher Black, the boy of her dreams, in her arms and she in his. It seemed like something out of a fairy tale. Mikomi didn’t care if she couldn’t quite wrap her head around the situation. He filled her senses and she breathed him in. She felt at home, so safe and sound. It had been months since she felt that touch of his skin and heard his voice. She looked up into those beautiful blue eyes as he took her face into her hands.
She studied him more closely. He had grown, perhaps taller? The lines of his face had become more pronounced, he looked older. The cute baby fat had disappeared to show a strong jaw line. Were those muscles? A smile graced her lips. He was beautiful in her eyes. It was true that the fact that she felt like she was looking at a new person was slightly depressing, but she didn’t care. In fact, it seemed at that very moment she didn’t seem to be caring about anything but the man before her. Her man.
How long was he to stay? Desperation filled her eyes momentarily. How much time did she have with him before his god awful parents would ship him away from her once more? She bit her lower lip slightly in thought, a habit that never died. She should take as much off from work to spend with Asher. She only had about a month left in the hell hole, but the time seemed to be ticking by so slowly. After that, she was home free to spend her life with Ashe whether his parents approved of not. She’d find a way to be with him one way or another, it didn’t matter.
Mikomi could’ve laughed. If her past self could be here she’d be amazed. She remembered herself to be such a rebel. Drugs, sex, and rock’n roll was the life. But now, after meeting Asher, she felt as though she had a different purpose in life. One might think her pride would be damaged, but Mikomi took it as a sign that Asher was the one. He was the one she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. She was barely an adult and yet she was ready to settle her life down. She had lived it up plenty enough. Parties weren’t the same when she didn’t have Asher, her superb dance partner, with her. Maybe they’d go to one before he left, make it tradition.
Mikomi leaned her face against the warm face cradling her face with a smile plastered to her face. She couldn’t stop smiling. He’s not leaving anymore? She wanted to scream her happiness to the world, but decided against it for various reasons. “Ash.” She whispered. It almost seemed as though no other words were needed. It almost seemed unreal that he was here at all. Perhaps both of them were still getting used to the idea of them being together in the first place. “When did you get back?” she asked, mostly curious to the fact that she could’ve seen him sooner. “If I had known, I would’ve been there!” she told him, before pausing. “Unless your parents were there too…” It was no secret that his parents openly detested her as though she belonged to the streets, and maybe there were right.
Mikomi was about to say something else when the sound of chair and someone crashing to the floor startled her. Mikomi grabbed the jacket of Asher, pulling herself to him from pure reaction. She peered over her shoulder to make out the figure of a scrawny boy. She watched for a moment, not making out the features or the clothes. However, the boy seemed fine and recovered with some sort of grace, if one could call it that. Mikomi looked up at Asher to study his reaction as she felt his form go rigid for a moment. His eyes were trained oddly on the boy. One might not have noticed the small things Asher was doing, but there was a reason she was deemed as intelligent as she was. She felt the low rumble in his chest as Asher emitted some sort of growl. She raised a brow and her attention snapped back to the boy.
Mikomi took her time to look over the boy, her hands still tightly gripping onto Asher, her protector. She bit her lip slightly. Why did this boy have to sit on the other end of the room, as far away as possible? She didn’t blame him after pulling a stunt like that. She almost turned her gaze back to Asher when her eye caught something familiar. A scarf. It was almost like a signal as the boy pulled it off hastily. It hit her. She knew that scarf, and only one person owned a scarf like that. “Koby?” she stated simply. The café wasn’t large and she was sure that Koby could hear her.
She knew his true fox form and that meant he had animal hearing. “Koby,” she started pinching the bridge of her nose,” What are you doing here?” She should’ve guessed it was Koby as soon as he tripped and went crashing to the floor. There was no ignoring Koby now. Mikomi turned to Asher as she smiled up at him, taking his hand and intertwining their fingers. “He’s a friend.” She told him before turning to make her way to Koby with Asher in hand. Had she ever mentioned Asher to Koby? She couldn’t remember. She always had that one picture, so maybe Koby knew something from her diary.
Slightly guilt washed over her. Her mind flashed to that one night at her work where Koby had come as a customer to try to talk her out of her job even though it wasn’t possible. The things that had happened, it hadn’t been fair to Asher. However, in her defense there hadn’t been any feelings on her part. Ruby orbs flashed over to the fox as the distance between them lessoned. What had Koby felt? In the back of her mind she felt as though perhaps Koby had different feelings towards her, but she could be wrong. Mikomi stopped at the under end of the table. “Koby, I’d like you to meet Asher.” She said with a grin, gesturing to the golden haired boy. “Asher, this is my friend, Koby.” She smiled trying to make this the least awkward meeting.

The fox’s head shot up, staring at the two from across the café. Smiling sheepishly, despite his head being covered, he waved. Crap! She was coming over. Koby ducked his head again, scratching his hood. Was she annoyed with him? Well, perhaps anyone would be. Up and leaving like that. He didn’t really make much movement, staring at his cup of half empty hot chocolate. “Hello,” The simple word was mumbled. A sudden scent washed over him. That guy… Was a wolf! Why hadn’t he sensed it before? Wide eyes continued to stare. The bastard… He… Mikomi trusted him! No doubt loved him by the way he had seen her look longingly at the picture. And he was keeping it a secret! Koby would no-doubted-ly spill every last thing about his past if it meant they were at some kind of mutual knowledge. Not to mention it would pay her back for sneaking in her diary. The thought made him wince.
Rubbing his face, Koby let out a sigh. “I do have to apologize.” He started, getting up. “But I do have to run.” What was with all the formal speaking? Well it didn’t matter. Messing with his hood, Koby glanced away, head still low. If this Asher guy was back… It would be best if the fox had stayed away. No doubt it was him growling at the fox after he fell, not just his insomnia acting out. “So… Uhm…” The fox tried to find some words. But they were all lost in the air. He didn’t know what to say. Catch you around? See you later? Koby wasn’t really living with her anymore. And there could be the slight chance that Asher would be staying with Mikomi. He didn’t want to ruin anything between them. Even if the bastard was a lying A-hole.
Stumbling once more on words, Koby turned to leave. His body went cold in numbness. GREAT! Now the drugs decide to kick in. The fox was cut off by the change and stumbled once more. However, he was prepared this time. He managed to catch himself on the table before his face hit the ground. Was he out of breath? Heterochromatic eyes gazed at the ground, face tilted slightly, panting. It felt cooler on his head. Shiii-! His hood. Quicker than a blink of an eye, Koby shot up. His hands reached for his hood, slamming it over his head. It was impossible not to see his face. Or at least a side of it. Koby was caught up in shock from the fall that he was down for a bit; hood off and his head tilted slightly. “S-sorry,” What was he apologizing for? He held back a sigh. So much for not being noticed.

A harsh expression touched Asher’s eyes. This guy gave him a eally bad feeling. Why in the world was this fox casting such looks in their direction? Asher tried to push away the thoughts that were beginning to rack his mind and focus on more important things; like Mikomi for example. His blue eyes met her red ones and held their gaze. ”When did I get back.” He repeated her question as if it were a statement. For a split second he wondered if he should lie to her. In truth, he had been back since yesterday evening, but he knew that that simple fact would probably hurt her feelings a bit. He had visited his parents and his brother all before he had visited the love of his life. Ash bit down on his lip, mimicking the gesture Miko had done so often. ”I got back a little late yesterday Mikomi.

He glanced down for a few seconds before looking back into her eyes. ”I should have seen you first” A tinge of jealousy washed over Asher when Mikomi recognized the boy. It was an odd feeling; it wasn’t one that the blonde particularly liked either. His first reaction was to go on an interrogation and barrage Mikomi with a long list of questions. Before his tongue was even moist enough to speak a word, he decided against it. What was the point? Certainly Miko had much more reason to question Asher than Asher did himself? The wolf bit his tongue and nodded. ”A friend? I see” Try as he might, Ash couldn’t help but let an ounce of venom slip into his words. As they walked over to wear the other boy sat, Asher kept to himself and said nothing. Up and down, right to left. Asher didn’t spare anytime in sizing the boy up. He concluded many things. One: there was no way in hell this boy could handle Mikomi....Asher couldn’t decide if that was a good or bad thing, but it reassured him a bit. Two: he probably wasn’t able to fight, which also reassured Asher. An almost palpable frown touched his face as he thought, and the flaxen haired male made no attempt to hide it. As Mikomi made a move to introduce the other, his expression still didn’t change. In fact it probably became even more sour. ”Thats right. Im her boyfriend,” Asher said with an unnecessary emphasis on the word boyfriend. ”I’m glad Mikomi made a little friend while I was a way. Again...unnecessary emphasis. Asher kept his hands to himself and made no move to shake Koby’s hand. Instead he wrapped his arm around Mikomi’s shoulder and stood with a glare on his face. Needless to say Asher was being a bit of a prick. [/div][/style]

Baby, all I do is try To show you that you're my One and only guy No matter who may come along Open your eyes, cause baby I don't lie
The air seemed to grow noticeably heavy, and Mikomi shifted slightly. Her eyes flickered back and forth between the two males. It would seem what had turned out to be a power struggle was simply Asher being… well, Asher. Mikomi sighed lightly while pinching the bridge of her nose. This wasn’t the first time Asher had done something like this. Mikomi remembered seeing Jack, the bartender from her work whom she was very close with, in the street one date while she was on a date with Asher. A simple “Hello” and “Good to see you” had turned the golden haired boy frazzled for quite some time into their date. In some way it made Mikomi smile. She knew it was only because he cared deeply for her and viewed other males as a threat, which he shouldn’t have. Koby was a friend, yes. However, Mikomi hoped to keep the details of their friendship hidden away.
As Asher introduced himself another sigh left the crimson eyed girl. The stressing of his words had her shaking her head. Yes, this was the Asher she had expected. Mikomi had her theories for his sudden need to assert his male dominance. It was perhaps only because he had been gone so long that he was now gripping to whatever he could to hold onto her. Mikomi looked over at Koby who appeared smaller to her than normal. She tilted her head. At just a glance one could see that Asher would have the upper hand in any fight, but it didn’t matter. As long as Asher wasn’t throwing punches she could live with his snide remarks. Mikomi glanced over at Koby apologetically. She’d talk to him later and try to excuse Asher’s behavior, if that was possible. As of right now, it didn’t seem very possible.
Koby’s greeting seemed weak and small. Mikomi raised a brow as neither of them made a move to shake the other’s hand. Again, another sigh. Boy would be boys, and it was best not to get in the way of that if possible. Mikomi watched Koby’s movements with a close eye. He was hiding something, she knew it. Mikomi always had a knack at reading him, even if he didn’t like it. She was sure that the two no longer had any secrets, because the two had discovered them on their own. Or, in Koby’s case he had read her diary. Her attention was brought back to Asher as she felt his arm slide around her. The simple contact mad her skin prickle in sensation. It had been too long. However, Asher’s facial expression less than pleasing. It seemed extremely unhappy about something. Mikomi wasn’t a fool, and she knew exactly what was causing his bitterness.
The sound of a chair scratching against the floor had ruby eyes back on the fox. Her brows furrowed as he spoke with almost an accent of some kind. Why was he speaking with such formality? “Koby, wait.” She started, although she wasn’t sure where she was going with her sentence. “You just got here.” She was practically stating the obvious, which she was quite good at too. Mikomi couldn’t blame him if he wanted to leave. Asher’s presence was becoming a little much in the tiny café, though there wasn’t much she could do without causing some sort of scene and one or both of them getting upset. She’s deal with Asher later on her own time without the view of the public eye.
Mikomi watched as Koby fished for words, much like she had done earlier. In truth, if Koby left, she wasn’t sure when the next time she’d see him. He had only left her a note saying he probably wouldn’t be staying with her anymore. That was the day Mikomi felt very alone, and from then one she had felt that way since. Again, with Asher here, it wouldn’t be a different story. Koby tossed some sort of slight glare at Asher, probably thinking something in his mind and Mikomi frowned. This wasn’t at all what she had expected. She wanted them to be friends and get along. Was that too much to ask for? Surely, Asher would come to his senses and realize that Koby wasn’t the bad guy, and maybe one day they’d be friends. A girl could hope.
Koby seemed to mumble something incoherent as he turned to leave. His appearance suddenly went rigid and Mikomi looked at him curiously, wondering what was going on. When he stumbled a gasp left her lips as he almost crashed to the floor had it not been for the table. “Koby!” she exclaimed, “are you okay?!” She could hear him panting and she walked briskly to his side to offer her assistance need be. Keen ruby eyes analyzed the situation. She had seen this before, and it was so vaguely familiar that she couldn’t put her finger on it. As she made her way to his front she noticed red marking about his face but before she could looked at them anymore he slammed his hood back over them. What was going on? He was shaking and his broken speech had her eyes narrowing. She finally understood. “Drug overdose.” It wasn’t a traumatic dosage that left people crippled like in the movies.
This was when someone takes a dosage and it doesn’t kick in so they take more and more. Koby must finally be experiencing the kick, and from the looks of it, it was strong. He seemed coherent and for the most part, there. Mikomi kneeled beside him. “Pain medication?” She asked simply, that would be her guess. Mikomi had been in the party business long enough to notice these things and what categories things fell under. “It’s not safe for you to be out like this.” She said standing up for a moment. “I’m taking you back to my place.” She stated simply, before turning to Asher. “Will you help me?” She asked her eyes sincere. “Please?” Ruby eyes on blue. Could he hear the desperation on her tongue? Surely, he could drop his ego to help her friend that was obviously not in good condition.

“I… Miko… I’m fine,” His words were stuttered again. The words were there, however they refused to come out. They didn’t sound so confident either. Thou, there was no point really in arguing with Mikomi. She’d win the battle, and with a wolf possibly on her side, there was no way he had a chance. Said wolf being very… Protective. Emphasizing his words. Boyfriend? More like ass-holic liar. At least Koby was somewhat honest. He had told Mikomi things that were supposed to be secret. Albeit, he had failed at keeping them secret. The fox stared at her, showing the burn marks. “Dilaudid… Is its street term, I think? A type of Hydro morphine. It’s for them,” Koby turned away again. The pain wasn’t just on his face. A vast majority of his body was burned. And it hurt no doubt. But the pain killer didn’t just help with the physical pain. It helped with the mental ones too. Because of the fire incident, one of his hands was wrecked. Now he couldn’t continue working on his gift to Mikomi; the specially made violin.
If Koby had tried hard enough, he could pull it off. But looking at the scar made everything return; all the memories and pain, if he hadn’t taken the drug. Because of that little fact, practically all the mirrors in Baulic’s house were broken. The fox hated looking at himself. It made everything more real too. Koby snapped out of his thoughts and his eyes saddened. “I’d only get in the way,” He managed to say. Now that Asher was here, it would be most likely that the other would stay with Mikomi. His clothes were there. The first time Koby went there, Mikomi had given him his clothes. But somewhere warm was better than the cold right? However, Koby didn’t want to be a bother.
As much as he knew nothing about Asher, and that he hated him, Mikomi obviously loved him. Was Asher really better for Mikomi? It wasn’t the best to dwell on the subject. All it seemed to do was give him a headache. Not like he could feel it now thou. Koby chuckled inwardly at his fail logic. Keeping his gaze away from the two, the fox couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy. Was it for Mikomi completely or not, he didn’t know. All it did really was bring up more memories of Uta. He couldn’t even go back to that home looking like this. No one would recognize him. It could have its ups and downs… But he really didn’t want to risk it. Koby wasn’t much of a fox anymore. Not transforming in forever did this.
Holding back a sigh, heterochromatic eyes turned towards Mikomi. If he did go, Asher would get mad. Not like he cared. But he might get mad at Mikomi. Maybe. The fox wasn’t really sure. He wasn’t sure of anything anymore really. However, if he didn’t go, she would only worry more. That was the least of things he wanted to do. All Koby did was shut his mouth and wait for things to play out, pleasantly numb.

‘Drug Overdose’
What? What did Mikomi just say? Drug overdose!? ‘Shit’ was all Asher thought as his free hand came up to slap his forehead. This emotional homecoming had quickly turned into something Asher didn’t want to be a part of. It looked like Miko had made some less than desirable friends in his absence. Asher didn’t know if he should be happy about her making friends or upset about it. If he was smart, he would have left the cafe with Miko in tow, one way or another. Something at the back of his mind was telling him that this Koby guy wasn’t someone they should be around. The blond bit down on his lip as Mikomi tore away from him and stood by the fox’s side. Ash stood almost awkwardly and did nothing but gaze down at the two, a look of disdain still on his face.
He listened to their conversation, putting the pieces together bit by bit. From the look of things, whatever the fox ‘overdosed’ on was to help with the unsightly burns that scattered the visible parts of his body. Normally, Asher probably would have felt horribly sorry for the kid. However the mix of disdain and slight jealously that ran through his veins prevented any such feelings from surfacing. When Mikomi told him that he would be going to her house, Asher’s heart dropped. ”What!?’
|
No way. No way in hell was tgat going to happen. For all Asher cared that little fox could go live in a trashcan. He could be anywhere he wanted; just not near Mikomi. His arms crossed over his chest, and his sapphire eyes narrowed. Asher was about to voice his opinion on the matter, but the tone Mikomi took... Asher wavered. How could he say no to that? His arms dropped to his side, and his blonde head hung low like a defeated child. ”Of course I will help you. You know that,” he said with a nod of reassurance. The wolf took a few steps, and put himself in position on the side of Koby. ”Don’t make this harder on either of us. Ill drop your ass on the floor if you start to resist." And with that, Asher wrapped his arm around Koby’s waist and hoisted him up to his feet. To his surprise the boy was a bit heavier than he imagined but not so heavy to cause him any discomfort. ”I’d throw you over my shoulder, but I don’t think you’d like that at all. Let’s go?” [/div][/style]

ci le feu est partout, mes frères humains l’ont apprivoisé Pour éloigner mes frères loups de la tiédeur de leurs foyers Mais il réchauffe les os engourdis de tristesse Illumine la peau d’un étrange caresse
This was quite the decision. What to do? It was clear that Asher wasn’t exactly fond of the idea of helping the fox, but it would seem he soon would give in. “Thank you.” She said with a tender smile. She’d make this up to him somehow. She was sure this wasn’t exactly how Asher had pictured their reunion, and she hadn’t thought it’d be like this either. If Koby hadn’t decided to pop in, she was sure Asher and she would be off on some cute date somewhere far away from here without a single trouble. It couldn’t be helped if she did feel some sort of annoyance to the fox, but he didn’t have anyone else. Mikomi was practically all he had left, and quite possibly his only friend. A sigh left her lips, it couldn’t be helped. As Asher made his way toward the fox Mikomi moved out of the way to allow him access.
Mikomi was much lighter than the both of them and there was no way she’d be able to move the fox on her own for such a far distance. Sure, she’d shifted him when he was passed out on the bed while staying with her but that was so long ago as well. Mikomi could hear Asher make his threats and she merely pinched the bridge of her nose. She could stand his remarks for his much needed assistance. It wasn’t like she hadn’t expected him to give some sort of resistance. He had, after all, refused to give the fox a simple handshake in greetings. Asher seemed to move the fox just fine on his own, though it would appear Asher had misjudged the fox’s weight originally. Another sigh, yes so very much like Asher to want to simply hoist the boy over his shoulder and go.
Once everyone seemed in place Mikomi stood, brushing off her clothes. “Okay, let’s go.” She said making her way to the door. “I’m not too far from here.” She stated pushing the door open and holding it open for the two to make their way to it. If Koby helped carry his weight, Mikomi guessed it wouldn’t take longer than five minutes. Mikomi lead the way with a strident step, though making sure she didn’t lose the two boys. “We’re almost there.” She said glancing over her shoulder to study the situation. She was sure to anyone else’s eye Koby looked like a drunk and Asher was there to help his ‘buddy’ along. A frown set on the young girl’s face. Was it too much to ask that they get along and be friends? What had Koby done that Asher couldn’t accept him. Perhaps all he needed was time to accept the fox as something other than a threat.
Ruby orbs looked up at the tall building just in sight. Yes, they were almost there. “Just up ahead.” She reassured them as they closed in on the building. Mikomi’s swift hands reached into her bag and grabbed the first set of keys to unlock the building before again holding open the door for the two boys. As they entered, Mikomi’s eyes glanced up to the sky, it was becoming rather dark. It would seem they were going to have a storm on their hands. “Good luck with these stairs.” She said as she turned to look up the several flights they’d have to climb… or those two would have to climb. Mikomi didn’t have a doubt in her mind that the two would be able to make it. After some time, they finally made it to her floor. Fumbling for keys again she unlocked the door, pushing it open to her home.
It was very small. It was supposed to be meant only for herself. There was a small dark marble foyer that only lasted a few feet before it hit dark mahogany floors. As she entered to her left there was an open kitchen. It had the bare minimal simply for her needs. “Finally here.” She said scanning her eyes over the home. “Asher, perhaps we should put him in the bedroom?.” Said, not sure how he’d react to it. It wasn’t like she was saying she’d be sleeping with him. There was a small round table in the dark marble floors of the kitchen. To her left was a small sitting area with two plush chairs that were old. Mikomi had been so lucky to get a good deal. Most of her instruments were there. It’s where her violin was supposed to have been and not on her floor. She grabbed the instrument and placed it in its stand on a shelf. She turned to the two chairs and pursed her lips. She should’ve bought a couch instead of the large plush chairs. The house was one large one with a L shaped floor plan. A large translucent sheet separated her ‘room’ from the rest of the house. She pushed past the material to look about.
The home was very clean since she had been the only one in it for quite some time. The window stretched the length of the wall and allowed light to pour into the room. The bed was large, a queen. It had been her parents, barely used. Dark velvet sheets and a black comforter with pillows covered her bed. Her nightstand had a small clock and light as well as several pictures. There was a small table a little ways from the bed with a round black plush rug underneath it. The table was adjustable, but Miko kept it low to the ground in a sort of Japanese fashion. “Just place him there “ She said pointing to the bed. On her right was the bathroom. The bathroom was dark too with only dark furnishing.
Before turning, her eyes caught the picture of Asher on her nightstand a smile graced her lips. How could it felt for him to be home. The low rumbling of thunder shook the house ever so slightly and she glanced outside of the large window. Rain. Wonderful. “I’m going to the kitchen to get some drinks.” She announced, eyes flickering over to Asher telling him to come. “You just relax, Koby.” She said eyes daring him to make a move. With a swift movement Mikomi turned to make her way to the kitchen. It truth she was stressed from the situation. She hoisted herself up onto a counter to sit on it making no move to get drinks. She waited until Asher entered the room. “I’m sorry.” She apologized with a sigh. “I’m sure this isn’t how you picture our reunion.” She felt horrible about it. She wouldn’t blame him if he wanted to up and leave after this.

Every bone in his body froze up. Heterochromatic eyes widened. Koby still wasn’t used to touching. Even if Asher was helping, it felt odd to him. Helping? That was a laugh. He was only doing it for Mikomi. The way the wolf had responded to Mikomi’s request was ever so apparent. What breathing creature would want to help him? The question seemed to force memories back. Always the odd one out. No one wanted anything to do with him. His thoughts continued to scream that Mikomi was only pitying him. Just like the first meeting. Koby seemed to relax only a bit before taking a step forward. He made his way to the door with the help of Asher. His gaze was towards the ground, having Asher lead the way. Everything seemed impaired to him; slow and faded. Crap. He really did take too much. The fox however, tried to not let anyone notice. Hopefully it wasn’t too bad. His mind ran thru the common side effects and he made sure nothing was severe. Which, they weren’t. The nausea and warmth were the only thing bothering him at the moment.
“Don’t go,” Her voice. Sky… Where was she? Koby tried lifting his head but it seemed too much for him. It didn’t matter thou. Whenever she wanted to show herself was always in times like these. She must really hate him. Had he not given her enough love when they were young to disserve this? The sweet voice of his sister seemed to fade as they got closer to Mikomi’s home. Suddenly the sight of asphalt stopped and stairs replaced it. “I’ve got this,” Koby mumbled. His glove covered hands gripped the railing. Sucking in breath, he climbed the stairs. A few times he stumbled but he had managed quite well on his own. Well… Maybe. The fox tripped once more. “I don’t got this.” He allowed the other to help him up before continuing onwards.
Everything inside the house seemed the same like last time. It never changed. Miko never changed. He let out a chuckle as she picked up her violin. Koby continued to take in the sight as thou he was never here before. A lot hadn’t changed. Once inside her room, the fox shifted out of Asher’s grip and jumped on the bed. In his original form, he didn’t spare the others a glance as he curled into a tight ball and laid there. His scar covered paw buried his head in them. He didn’t care much anymore that they could see him. See what had happened. What he turned into. The whole back of his neck and a bit of his shoulder was nothing but skin. His forehead and face was also scarred. On his front legs, the scars wrapped around, almost like a tattoo. His hind legs, mainly his left knee and right calf, were also scar. But hey, the fur on his tail had finally grown back. Koby flicked his tail over his face as well.
Relax? Like that was possible. But he couldn’t be angry at Mikomi. She was only trying to be comforting. But he messed everything up for her. He should have just kept moving instead of entering the café. She and Asher might have been on some happy, sappy, reunion date if it wasn’t for him. A pang of self hatred settled in his stomach. Why? Why was he always causing her pain? It was the same with Uta. Yet they all seemed to stay. They should just leave. There was always Sky to keep him company. Even if she always came and went whenever she pleased. Tears prickled in his eyes but he whipped them away.

Even when the boy tripped and stumbled, the blonde never released his grip. For someone who appeared so weak and fragile, Koby was really holding it up. It was easy to tell that he was going though some pain, and the fact that the boy kept it to himself...well it was enough to earn a little sympathy from the wolf. Emphasis on a little. If the two had met under different circumstances, Asher was sure that he probably would have taken some kind of liking towards the boy. But alas, Asher was a bit...territorial so to say and couldn’t stand the idea of someone else invading his space or getting to close to someone he cared about in a ‘touchy’ kind of way. As they walked, Ash kept his opinions and all the taunts he wanted to say to himself. He figured he would try his best not to upset Mikomi or her friend anymore than he already had.
The scenery on the road seemed almost surreal. Although storm clouds were beginning to brew, the path hadn’t changed much in the time he had been away. The green house he passed on the way to the market was still there, as well as the old rusty fire hydrant and the large crooning tree that hovered over a tiny one story house. Asher couldn’t help but smile to himself despite the situation. It felt good to be back. It felt good to be home. Earlier he had promised Mikomi that he wasn’t going to leave anymore, and he meant it. After all, who would want to leave this place behind? It wasn’t as grand or as big as the neighborhood he grew up in, but it was quaint and comfortable.
When the trio reached the tall looming building, memories flashed in front of Ash’s eyes. The flaxen haired male smiled once again. ”This place is still the same. It hasn’t changed either,”
|
He stated simply. For a moment he turned his attention back to koby, a frown replacing his smile ”I know you ‘don’t got this’. Shut up and let me haul your ass up the stairs.” With an almost inaudible grunt, Asher lifted Koby off his feet and walked up the stairs. He did so without struggle, gently sat him down on the top of the stairway and continued onward into the small apartment. The place was definitely different, or at least it seemed that way. Had Mikomi always had so little property? Maybe the room just seemed to be more filled because he was shorter back then. Amazing what a few inches did to you. Once he crossed over the door frame, Asher took a deep breath in, expecting to inhale nothing but Mikomi’s scent. What he got however surprised him. His blonde eyebrows furrowed intensely, and his breath caught in his throat. Why did it smell like that fox in here? His scent was ever so faint...but it was definitely his. Bitting down on his lower lip, Asher reluctantly towed Koby past the sheet and into the bed room where he immediately shifted out of Ash’s grip and phased into his fox form. ”I’ll be right out Miko, he called out. ”I need to check something out first... Asher knelt down on one knee, and pressed his nose onto the mattress, and an almost feral growl grew deep in his chest. Without a second thought, Asher bolted to his feet and sprung after the fox, grabbing it by the scruff. He walked, or rather stormed into the ktichen and brandished the animal at Mikomi. ”He’s been here. He’s been in your bed!?” He scoffed. "This shows how sorry you are, doesn't it Mikomi? Asher spoke from behind clenched teeth. His blue eyes saw nothing but red, and an anger greater than any emotion he ever felt raged like fire inside his chest. The wolf had no idea what all of this had meant. He came to a couple conclusions himself, but none of them he wanted to believe. It seemed like the one he loved the most had found another. Asher did not wait for Mikomi to answer any of his questions. He tossed the fox on the floor a bit harder than necessary and headed for the door. ”I’m done here. I don’t associate myself with cheating liars. [/div][/style]

But it was not your fault but mine And it was your heart on the line I really fucked it up this time Didn't I, my dear?
What would transpire while she was in the kitchen she couldn’t have started to imagine. Asher had told her he’d soon join her in the kitchen and so she had waited. She wondered how this encounter would affect everything. This was quite the damper in the situation. It seemed so troublesome all the while. This wasn’t the first time she was here to aid Koby. Koby seemed like he was almost always in trouble and Mikomi just so happened to be there when things happened. Even Mikomi hadn’t quite recovered from the incident where she almost killed a man. She’d shuddered at the thought. She was probably still messed up from it.
A slight commotion had Ruby eyes snapped to attention. What was going on in there? Mikomi pushed herself off the counter and didn’t get further than a step before the amber headed boy marched in. It took Mikomi a second to pull herself out of her confused state to notice a fox being held in the air by Asher. However, it wasn’t just any fox. This fox was Koby. Her eyes widened. What the hell was Koby doing? Why had he turned into a fox? It wasn’t like Asher had known; he was still a human after all. Her horrified gaze switched between the fox and her blue eyed lover. ‘Fuck.’ Her mind screamed ferociously.
Her gaze was locked on Asher as he spoke. How had he known? “Asher!” she exclaimed, not sure where her words were going. “Stop!” she brought her hands up and shook them lightly. “It’s not what you think!” He couldn’t think… no! “You don’t think I slept with him, do you?” She asked puzzled. This wasn’t actually happening! Never in her life had Mikomi thought being a friend and allowing Koby to stay here would come back to bite her in the ass. She really fucked it up this time. Bringing Koby here had been a mistake, and instantly, Mikomi regretted it. Why had Koby entered that café? She couldn’t blame this on Koby, as much as she wanted to. This was her fault.
A surprised gasp left her lips as she watched as the fox hit the ground. “Koby.” She gasped, hoping the fox wouldn’t be in too much pain. It was clear that the fox had been in pain before Asher through him around like a rag dog. “Asher, stop!” She exclaimed before rushing to Koby to see if he was alright. However, it didn’t last long before Asher was making his way to the door. “I’m sorry.” She told the fox, shooting him an apologetic look before she was up on her feet rushing toward Asher who had already left her home and out the door toward the stairs. “Asher!” She pushed herself through the door.
She turned and ran to the railing. She could see him already walking down some of the steps. “Stop! Asher!” She reached out to him, leaning over the rail. He didn’t stop. She growled in frustration. “You promised me you wouldn’t leave me!” She exclaimed, tears welling up in her eyes. The storm started to pick up even more and the thunder roared. The lights began to flicker before going out like they always did during a storm. How was she the liar?! “I never cheated on you!” Her job didn’t count, it was work and there were no feelings. “Asher Beauvoir Black!” His name left her lips so smoothly. She shoved off the railing and turned the corner to run down the stairs. She made it down one flight. He was finally in view. It was then her feet came from under her and she was suddenly air born. Everything seemed to stop. “Asher.” She whispered ever so softly before the breath left her lungs.
