A loud, unsettling crack caused the maiden to flinch, her hands pressing against her ears again. A soft whimper escaped her, recognizing the sound as a skull against the Earth; she had fought alongside Shugo far too long to not be able to recognize such a sound. Was he winning? She hoped so - yet she didn't, at the same time. The sounds of battle remained clear, almost ringing, yet they began to feel somewhat distant. She knew Shugo well enough that he would protect her. Even after such a misdeed toward her, she knew he would protect her with his life. But did she really want that? When he would merely try to betroth her again, and rape her again if she refused? Would he do that? She didn't know anymore. Or maybe she did? Confusion; she curled further into herself.
On the other hand, would she rather be stolen away by a stranger? She still couldn't recognize the other, although something nagged her that she should have by now. That she knew him. But her mind wasn't piecing together his pieces, only Shugo's. Not even piecing herself together. In all honesty, she wasn't sure she'd make it through this. She was already broken, and now she was confused. Growing more and more disoriented as her thoughts began to accumulate. While she knew that Shugo would treat her lovingly once he had her, she wouldn't be happy. However, would she be any better off with a stranger? Would she rather grow to trust the stranger? Start off anew, without any past bad experiences, any grudges. With someone she didn't know before, and grow to know them. Or would she rather accept Shugo? Someone she knew, who thought he loved her, as strange as his mindset was.
Another loud crack, and another flinch; her thought process shattered, and she jerked up slightly, barely hearing the further tearing of a few places in her dress. They weren't bad tears, not that she could see them; she could only feel very minuscule pockets of air, almost. And they weren't in any exposing places, although her mind wasn't exactly focused on that. Rather, it was focused on the second wave of panic preparing to settle in. More scents of blood began to arrive; of her blood, as well as.. well, it wasn't Shugo's. She knew that. So it had to be the stranger's. Yet, it seemed laced with the faintest familiarity.. Before her thoughts could completely function to recognize the brute, however, the sound of tearing flesh caused a loud whine to escape her; that was Shugo being hurt. She knew, because he never purposely inflicted wounds before knocking the opponent out. She wrapped her arms around herself now, as if holding herself together. She felt the warmth of bits of blood from her small wounds, but she wasn't focused on that; the sound of skulls clashing brought her frown, emphasizing the drying trails of tears. How long would they be gone? Long enough? She hoped so; her vision was still blurry, and the clearing up was taking far too long to comfort her any.
She glanced away as teeth flashed and the males collided once more, only this time, it was the opponent's doing; he tore into her former mentor's flesh, and she heard more tearing. Another whimper. But then she heard clicks of his claws as he landed, and her shoulders slumped slightly, the faintest spark of relief arriving. She wasn't quite sure why she was rooting for him after raping her. But then, she knew him well; he had always been a father figure to her. He raised her since she was a pup, loved her since she was an adolescent. It wasn't like she hated him. She only didn't trust him. And especially now. But she cared. She knew she did. She just didn't know how much. She wanted him to get away, but she wanted him to stay at the same time. His presence frightened her, yet it comforted her. One hand reached for her temple as her moonstones narrowed; so confusing..
As her gaze turned to watch Shugo's silhouette, another whimper escaped; his electric greens disappeared for a moment, his head seeming to contact the floor. She shifted forward, wincing as debris dug into her palm when she attempted to bring herself to stand up, but she still forced herself to stand up. She wanted to get out of here.. Away from the both of them. But where could she go? Then, she heard her name. The stranger - was he? - had voiced her name. Protectively, almost. How did he know her name? She knew him, didn't she? Right? Her mind unstably racked itself, attempting once more to place a name and face to the voice and scent, through all of the rampant emotions and thoughts. Her mind was such a wreck..
Out of paranoia, she took a few steps back, in case the opponent was a stalker of sorts. But who would stalk her? She wasn't so careless.. Then again, she had just gotten raped. There was no telling what other simple mistakes she made that could have led to a stalker. She swallowed hard, and she took a few more steps backward. Her final one, however, contacted an obstacle; something wooden - plywood, beams, she didn't know - and it caused her precarious balance to break for a moment. With a yelp, she fell, a few nails grazing her, although she was terribly lucky that she didn't land on them. Just a few minor cuts, and more than likely a bruise; the thud she heard from her fall onto her ass and nearly her back was rather loud for a landing, as ungraceful as it was. A soft groan escaped her, pained and even more disoriented. Soon, she heard hurried paw-steps, and as she blinked up, Shugo's large, deep gray figure was rushing toward her. A small scream escaped her as she jerked backward, grazing another nail. She gave another yelp, hugging her hand to herself.
When she glanced up again, Shugo had slowed down his pace exponentially, a low and concerned whine escaping him. He had completely broken from the fight to make sure she was alright, hadn't he..? It didn't register in her mind that it was a bad choice. Not yet, at least. As he closed the gap between them, she realized she was trembling again, almost violently; he nuzzled her lightly, his fur brushing against the back of her lightly bleeding hand. Without thinking much of it, she turned her hand to him, and she gently licked the blood off. He pressed his maw against her, and slowly, shakily, she practically cradled his cranium. She heard him take a few steps closer, but it still hadn't registered in her mind that he made an ill decision, and that she wasn't warning him. His fur was warm, especially now that his skin radiated heat from a fight; she dwelt on that fact, finding a comfort in his presence. Unease stalked the back of her mind, however; something wasn't right. And that feeling of imminent tragedy? It felt as of a cloud of that was now stalking their heels. But in her mind's hysteria, in the comfort of his concerned tongue over her bleeding scrapes, her awareness of the danger was lost.
"I'm sorry, my dear Amaya," he whispered, nuzzling her again. Was he really sorry? She didn't know; she doubted she was going to figure it out completely, too. She may presume he was sorry, but if he did, would he really have gone through with it in the first place? Was his apology even worth something by now? She still throbbed of pain everywhere he hurt her, and she knew that any chances of forgiving him were gone. So why did she find it comforting that he was caring so much now? Her bodice was still tensed, her mind still paranoid, even as the rest of her relaxed. It was because any source of comfort helped now, even if it was from the one who just broke her. She needed whatever love she could receive, as false as it could be. Right? She still couldn't answer her own questions. With another whimper, she buried herself in his fur, afraid to face the rest of reality. She just wanted to sleep. To stop hurting. To dream, dream it all away. To just forget this ever happened. But she knew she couldn't she could sleep for a century, and she would still recall her tragedy the moment she woke. A trembling sigh, on the brink of a weeping sob, broke past her lips.
She nearly completely forgot the other male, and she wasn't quite certain whether Shugo forgot as well or not. She was engulfed in her insane mind again, and what a frightening place it was, especially now that her emotions finally shattered her barrier..
